Casablanca - Rabat to host first edition of Visa For Music (VFM) Africa and Middle East Music Meeting from November 12 to November 15.
Morocco is the exclusive host of Visa For Music, a novel music event on the continent. Visa For Music, the first professional music exhibition for Morocco, the Middle East and Africa will represent a professional marketplace for the new music industry in Morocco and Africa, as well as create a fertile ground for the future of the Moroccan and African music industry.
The mission of the event is to advance the establishment of a music marketplace in Africa and the Middle East and link the African arts with their Middle-Eastern counterparts. The event will develop the musical and cultural scene at both the regional and international levels and strengthen a north-south exchange in regards to the cultural and musical sectors. Visa For Music also aims to initiate an environment that promotes creativity and professionalization across cultural spheres.
Apart from its location as a crossroads of African and Middle East civilizations, what qualifies Morocco to host such an event is its unmatched diverse cultural richness that recently witnessed a great expansion in its landscape. The international music festivals that Morocco organizes have gained success and reputation within and outside of Morocco and have immensely contributed to this fast expansion.
According to the official website, Visa for Music targets all types of professionals in the domain of music. Its platforms will welcome artists and groups, independent and major labels, producers and broadcasters, publishers and distributors, theaters and festivals, as well as artistic directors, managers and tour organizers.
Representatives of the cultural landscape will enrich this new market by exposing the artists to professional organizations, media companies, associations and foundations, international and public institutions, governments and local authorities as well as members of the civil society.
A multitude of activities will take place at this event. The program will include five exhibitions that will ensure a professional and qualified public for the exhibitors and showcases that will put the spotlight on new talents and booming artists. The event will bring more than 24 artists to perform in front judges and diverse audiences. Other minor events will also be part of the program including conferences and projections of current documentary films, professional training, speed meeting, networking and professional settings.
Almost 300 actors of the cultural and musical domains will participate in the fourth edition of the International Conference on Creative Economy in Africa organized by ARTerial Network that will be held on the margin of Visa For Music 2014.
National and international institutions like the Ministry of Culture of the Kingdom of Morocco, The European Forum of Worldwide Music Festivals (EFWMF), and The Foundation HIBA will support Visa For Morocco.
