Morocco-China Bilateral Relations Improving, Moving Towards Strategic Partnership

Fez - Moroccan Minister of Foreign Affairs and cooperation, Salaheddine Mezouar held bilateral talks on Wednesday in Beijing with his Chinese counterpart Mr. Wang Yi to improve bilateral relations towards achieving a strategic partnership. 

The meeting was held on the sidelines of the sixth session of the Ministerial Meeting of the Forum on China-Arab Cooperation, celebrating the tenth anniversary of the establishment of the Forum. The Moroccan Minister chaired the delegation of foreign ministers of the Arab League.

The bilateral meeting discussed mechanisms to deepen the political dialogue between the two countries as well as international issues of common concern.

Mr. Mezouar expressed Morocco's condemnation of the terrorist attacks that took place in China's Xinjiang region, stressing Morocco's denouncement of all manifestations of violence and extremism. In addition, the moroccan Minister noted Morocco's willingness to combat such forms of violence to sustain the safety and stability of peoples and nations.

Concerning the bilateral strategic partnership, Mezouar stressed Morocco's vision to enhance bilateral ties conducive to putting both countries on the right footing with the changes and challenges facing them. This partnership falls within the framework of King Mohammed VI's future vision encompassing political, cultural, and economic aspects.

On his part, Mr. Wang Yi emphasized China’s willingness to advance its relations with all Arab and Islamic countries, especially Morocco, taking into consideration the shared history that connects China to these countries and the common challenges they face.

Additionally, Mr. Wang Yi highlighted China's will to continue defending Morocco in regional and international forums based on China’s commitment to respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all peoples.
