Many Muslims in France continue to suffer from different kinds of ill-treatment, ranging from racism to suppression of religious freedom, reported Al Jazeera channel.

According to French reports, a woman recently complained to the court that she was being discriminated against because she was wearing a headscarf.

Other Muslim women in France admitted that they do not practice their religious freedoms at their ease, according to Al Jazeera's report.

The increasing number of complaints about such forms of racism has pushed many French Muslims to take to the street in Paris to urge the French government to intervene and take action.

Recently, a headscarf-wearing Muslim woman was assaulted and ordered to take off her headscarf in Northern Paris.

"This is against religious freedom; this is against tolerance; this is a sign of irrational Islamophobia spreading in France", a Muslim Moroccan woman told MWN.

In an interview with MWN, Aabiss Rachid, a Moroccan intellectual, said "France doesn't abide by a saying attributed to French philosopher Voltaire which goes: I disapprove of what you wear, but I will defend to death your right to wear it".

"Where is freedom of expression, personal freedoms, and the land of fraternity on which France has long prided itself?" Aabiss added.

Hundreds of French Muslims continue to protest as more assaults against them are being recorded. "Enough is enough of discrimination and intolerance", French Muslim protesters chanted according to Al Jazeera.
