Fez - The Ministry of Moroccan Residents Abroad and Immigration Affairs co-hosted a project launch ceremony in collaboration with the European Union entitled, “Supporting Partnership for EU-Morocco Mobility” at the Golden Tulip Farah Hotel in Rabat on June 27, 2014.

The ceremony marked the start of an innovative initiative to support Morocco’s policies to mobilize Morocco’s citizens residing abroad and further economic development through strengthening cooperation between the Moroccan and European administrations, according to a news release.

During the ceremony, a Memorandum of Agreement was signed by the Moroccan Minister, the EU Ambassador to Morocco and the CEO of France Expertise Internationale, as France’s representative, the State member in charge of implementing the project.

The project is being funded by the European Union at a cost of 5 million Euros, including 146,000 Euros from France’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, 125,000 Euros from the Netherlands’ Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and contributions from other European State members’ project partners.

The project’s sponsors set forth many objectives. Among these objectives are, analyzing the project's implementation over a ten year period.  This time is aimed at strengthening the positive impact of immigration on development in Morocco, adopting best practices in accordance with public policies, improving the knowledge and awareness of Morocco’s diaspora in Europe, through a clear map of Morocco’s residents in European countries.
