Moroccan Hackers Crack Egyptian Government’s FaceBook Page

Rabat - Only a few hours after Moroccan Foreign Minister Salaheddine Mezouar visited Cairo on Sunday, Moroccan computer hackers broke through and attacked the official FaceBook page of the council of Egyptian Ministers.

The Moroccan hackers wrote three detailed messages on the FaceBook page speaking out against the massacre that occurred during the protests of at Al-rabia Adawiya and Al-nahda Square on August 14, 2013.

The first message was a picture of the Al-rabia symbol, four fingers above, the second message was a statement that said “God Bless you, Egypt,” and the third one said "Long live Egypt, Moroccan Hackers greet you.”

In apparent support for Egypt’s former president, Morsi, they heaped sarcasm on the new president of Egypt, Al Sisi, repudiating the new Egyptian regime.

After the statements had gone viral on social networks, th hackers’ action was praised by some people and condemned by others. Some of those who approved wrote, “Have you congratulated Mahlab for losing the page?”

Once the Egyptian Government discovered the breach they quickly deactivated the FaceBook page and opened a new page, which has since been followed by more than 6000 people.

The Al Sisi government has upset many Egyptians by stopping its subsidization of a number of basic necessities driving up fuel prices and electricity prices. These increases have contributed to the anger of the poorest Egyptians.
