The French Professional Association of Tour Operators (CETO) ranked Morocco “best and most popular” destination for French customers in winter 2013, wrote daily L’Opinion on Monday.
According to the French travel website Planet.fr, Morocco attracted 144,540 customers For the 2012-2013 winter season, which runs from 1 November 2012 to 30 April 2013. The kingdom, thus, ranks first on the Top 10 list of most popular destinations chosen by French customers for their winter holidays followed by the French Antilles, the Canary Islands, the Dominican Republic, Tunisia, Spain, Mauritius, Italy, Mexico and Turkey.
Morocco has thus maintained its leading position on the CETO market, while gaining additional market shares with more than 260,000 customers in the 2012-2013 winter seasons.
As to travel reservations for summer 2013, the year foreshadows positive incomes for Morocco, with 1.1 % reservations, compared to -6 % for the Canaries, -43 % for Tunisia, according to the Moroccan daily L’Opinion.
Morocco was also the favorite destination of French tourists in 2012. It is also the favorite destination for French retirees. It estimated that between 20,000 and 25,000 French retirees live in the Kingdom.
