Taroudant, Morocco- A Moroccan music group known as "Chabab Al Andalous" Orchestra (the Andalous youth orchestra) are scheduled to take part in an Israeli music festival, “Jerusalem Sacred Music Festival 2014”, to be held in Israel from September 9 to 12.

The participation of the Moroccan music band in the Israeli festival is stirring controversy, especially as it comes a few weeks after the end of the 50-long Israeli war on Gaza, which claimed more than 2,200 lives, mostly civilians.

According to Alyoum24, the campaign "Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions" (BDS) against Israel in Morocco called on the Moroccan orchestra to refrain from the participation in the Israeli Festival.

The same source published parts of the letter purportedly sent to the music band saying, "You, with your participation in this festival, will be among those colluding with criminals, something we do not accept for a Moroccan band.”

The Moroccan orchestra, which consists of ten members, are scheduled to play traditional Moroccan music in the Tower of David Museum on September 10 at 8:30pm.

The Show of the Moroccan band will last 90 minutes, and the tickets are set at NIS 110 around $30.

The members of the band, who view themselves as the proud ambassadors of Andalusian music, have not so far issued any announcement on whether they intend to cancel their participation or not.
