Taroudant, Morocco - The Morocco-based startup iMote, a gesture control app, is one of ten exciting African tech startups (along with nearly 200 companies) that are set to compete in the annual Web Summit conference, Europe’s largest start-up competition, to be held November 4 to 6 in Dublin, Ireland.
The Moroccan-based developer will compete with other high tech innovations from around the world in Dublin’s Web Summit, which is perceived as “the best technology conference on the planet.”
The app is designed to help smartphone users, operating under iOS or Android systems, gain control of their devices with a simple gesture.
According to their official website, iMote “Makes your phone ring remotely when you misplace it, even if it is on silent mode.”
With a simple gesture, and without even touching your phone, the app can let you “take a picture when you really want to be in, launches music, orders a taxi, or use it to check-in to your favorite coffee shop,” the developer says.
The app works on iPhone, iPad, and Android and is designed to let you take control over your phone and the world around you using an “ultra-modern and clean design” amulet or with simple gestures away from your own device.
“Pitch is going to be bigger and of a higher quality than ever this year with 200 finalists pitching this November,” said Paddy Cosgrave, co-founder of the Web Summit.
“Some of these startups are fundamentally changing the world with their ideas,” he added.
