Rabat- The African Cup of Nations (CAN) will take place, as scheduled, from January 17 to February 8, according to Amadou Diakite, a member of the Executive Committee of the Confederation of African Football.
Amadou Diakite declared, in a media statement, that the African Union found a substitute country that will organize the tournament instead of Morocco, without naming the country.
The African Union expected Morocco to change its decision, after its request to postpone the date of the tournament to June 2015 or January 2016 due to fears of the spread of the Ebola virus.
However, the Moroccan Ministry of Sports has sent a written response to the Confederation of African Football (CAF) on Saturday, confirming that that Morocco will not change its position regarding the request to postpone the 30th edition of the African Cup of Nations.
