Marrakech - Morocco will receive a delegation of UK experts and companies operating in the renewable and alternative energy space, led by the UK Prime Minister’s Special Trade Envoy to Morocco, Lord Sharman of Redlynch, according to a press release by the British Embassy in Morocco.

The visit, scheduled for November 10 through 12, is to promote business and technology partnerships between United Kingdom and Morocco in the renewable energy sector.

During the visit, the British Embassy, in collaboration with Moroccan Agencies, National Agency for the Development of Renewable Energy and Energetic Efficiency (ADEREE) and Research Institute for Solar Energy and New Energy (IRESEN), will organize a seminar for the purpose of strengthening the British-Moroccan business partnership.

The seminar is an occasion for the UK to showcase its renewable energy and waste Management expertise and innovation, as well as serve as a platform to exchange expertise and work with Morocco to develop sustainable energy solutions and relationships with respect to wind, solar energy, waste management, and energy efficiency.

Lord Sharman, who was appointed as The UK Prime Minister’s Special Trade Envoy to Morocco in 2012, will give a welcome address, and invite Moroccan officials for business meetings with a group of stakeholders, and to visit projects such as a waste recycling center.

The British Ambassador to Morocco, Clive Alderton, said, “Our Prime Minister’s Trade Envoy’s visit comes two weeks after a major UK/Morocco financial services seminar in the City of London, attended by around 300 companies.”

He added that the visit will include “a strong business delegation, to capitalise on UK/Morocco leadership on renewable energy and create win-win partnerships. Morocco has one of the most ambitious renewable energy programmes in the Middle East and North Africa; the UK is a global center of research in clean and sustainable energy.”

The trade envoy’s visit to Morocco highlights the significant role Morocco plays as an investment partner. Additionally, great partnership and diplomatic relations between UK and Morocco dates back for many years.
