Rabat - According to a survey, Prime Minister Abdelillah Benkirane is more popular than his predecessors.
The survey conducted by L'Economiste-Sunergia shows that Morocco's current head of government enjoys a wide popularity among the Moroccans, compared to his predecessors and political opponents.
Benkirane was voted the best Prime Minister by 37% of the respondents surveyed by the French-speaking daily newspaper.
24% voted in favor of Abderrahmane Youssoufi, who served as the Prime Minister of Morocco from 1998 to 2002. Third in place is former Prime Minister Driss Jettou (2002-2007) with 16% of the votes.
The survey's results also revealed that Abdelillah Benkirane's predecessor Abbas El Fassi from the Istiqlal party already seems to be forgotten.
The Prime Minister of Morocco from 19 September 2007 to 29 November 2011, who replaced independent Driss Jettou, was regarded by 7% of the respondents to be Morocco's best PM.
The results also show that the opposition party leaders are less popular than Benkirane.
Hamid Chabat, leader of the Istiqlal party, received 11% of the votes. USFP's Driss Lachgar comes in second place of the opposition party leaders with 7%, followed by Mustapha Bakkoury from the Party of Authenticity and Modernity (5%).
