Rabat - Maroc Telecome, Morocco’s leading telecommunications company, has revealed that Moroccans sent more than 100 million SMS (short message service) messages on New Year’s Eve and Al Mawlide.
It seems that texting has become a time-honored tradition anda part of festive occasions in Morocco. Maroc Telecome’s customers’ SMS traffic reportedly increased significantly during the New Year's Eve and the feast of Eid Al-Mawlid.
According to the company, more than 55 million text messages were sent on New Year’s Eve, an increase of 30 percent compared to last year.
