Rabat - Clint Eastwood's new biographical war drama "American Sniper" featuring Bradley Cooper is said to have used vehicles, weapons and personnel of the Royal Armed Forces known by its French acronym as FAR for their battle scenes.
According to Telquel magazine, American Sniper, a film based on Chris Kyle's autobiography "American Sniper: The autobiography of the Most Lethal Sniper in U.S. Military History" is the recent of American films to use FAR's military arsenal and personnel.
Ridely Scott's Gladiator (2002), Kingdom of Heaven (2005) and other American mega production films with global success also used Morocco's military equipment, Telquel said.
The French-Speaking magazine reported that the Royal Armed Forces are accustomed to rent their equipment to producers, including foreigners.
Film crews may also have access to military bases of the Moroccan army, the source said.
American Sniper, which was partly shot in Morocco, is said to have also featured real Moroccan army personnel in one of its battle scenes.
Moroccan soldiers have been trained by US military instructors so they move and fight like American soldiers, Telquel added.
Eastwood's American Sniper about Navy SEAL marksman Chris Kyle grossed an estimated $105 million over its first weekend in wide release.
