Rabat - Mohammed Aderbouch, a Moroccan plasterer, who was facing amputation of his right hand for theft in Saudi Arabia, has reportedly been pardoned by the Saudi justice.

The Moroccan plaster, 27 years old, was accused in 2013 of theft, and was sentenced to amputation of his right hand “without given him the chance to legal assistance or representation.”

In a video posted on YouTube, the mother of the detained pleaded King Mohammed VI to intervene with the Saudi authorities to release her son, the only breadwinner of the family.

The mother said that her son was “innocent of the charges raised against him.”

“I can’t sleep and tears never leave my eyes,” the mother said in the video.

Considered arbitrary by activists of human rights, the case of the Moroccan worker has caused an uproar internationally after he was put behind bars, without a fair trial or the presence of a lawyer.
