Fez - The Association of Moroccan Alumni of the University of the Middle East Project (AMA UMEP) organized its first Access students’ leadership festival in M’diq, Morocco from 5th to 7th February.
The festival was an opportunity for AMA Access Tiznit and Tahla students to meet up, practise their English language skills, share their ideas and experiences, show their talents and make new friendships.
A series of interactive activities were presented by AMA Access students to show their talents in public speaking, presentations on a number of topics, drama, ICT projects, creative writing, singing and poster session.
The festival featured speakers from a variety of fields like English language inspectors, youth leaders, and youth trainers who addressed a multitude of topics aiming basically at empowering the youth to achieve their full potential and equipping them with effective leadership skills.
“AMA Access is that something special I was looking for in my life; it’s a dream that has come true. I’m very happy for my participation in the festival because I learned a lot of new things and met amazing new friends,” said AMA Access student Hanane Berghazi.
Adil Boufessi couldn’t hide the over excitement in his voice when talking about his participation in the festival: “I would like to thank AMA for giving us this chance. I never thought I would meet such wonderful and inspiring people. I liked everything in the program but the unforgettable moment was when I got a book signed by the Moroccan Canadian young writer Intissar Louah.”
For Mr. Khalil Zakari, English Language Teaching Supervisor, "The Festival was an attempt to feed discovered gifts and talents, provide Access students with interaction and leadership opportunities and offer them a chance to be there where not many of their school mates were."
"These distinguished participants had a chance to huddle, befriend, communicate, share, mentor, support, and enjoy a three-day holiday hundreds of miles away from home," Mr. Zakari added.
