Fez - The Ministry of Education and Professional Training wants to stop the chaos that is taking place in some Moroccan schools, especially with the numerous videos shared on social media that taint the image of Moroccan schools.
More and more videos have been shared on social networks in recent weeks. They depict students, or sometimes teachers, in situations that have nothing to do with school or education. The videos show extreme verbal abuse, both with regard to teachers and students.
In one video, a teacher is seen lashing out at students. In another, students are shown deriding a female teacher and preventing her from leaving the classroom.
Fatima Ouahmi, who is in charge of communications at the Ministry of Education said in an interview with Media 24, "We are totally opposed to this kind of behavior.”
Ouahmi added that the Ministry has opened investigations immediately after discovering these incidents.
A number of videos circulating on the Internet are old, and users are sharing them to amplify the phenomenon. The Ministry said that all the videos have not yet been authenticated, while the institutions, teachers, and students in question have not all been identified.
"The Ministry calls for an investigation and has appointed a commission composed of inspectors. This Commission is visiting the establishment in question and meeting all of the parties: teachers, students, and school principals, and will present a report to be submitted either to the director of the local academy or the Ministry. Once responsible are identified, we will launch a series of disciplinary measures," said Fatima Ouahmi.
The same source indicated that the moralization of school life is one of the major projects the Ministry of Education is considering. "It will be unveiled, and it will see the light in the coming weeks," concluded Fatima.
