King Mohammed VI to Provide Assistance to Victims of Floods

Rabat- King Mohammed VI took the country by surprise on Wednesday when he decided to cancel his inauguration of a project proposed by the Ministry of Interior in conjunction with the Ministry of Commerce, Industry, and Digital Economy.

While Moroccan officials made all the necessary arrangements for the participation of the Moroccan monarch in the launch of a program aimed at rehabilitating street vendors in the country, King Mohammed called off his plans and informed the Minister of Interior by phone of his decision not to inaugurate the project.

The reason behind this sudden change of plans is the King’s apparent disappointment at the low profile of the project, which does not live up to “his expectations” to improve the economic situation of the sector.

Following the call he received from the king, Mohammed Hassad, the Minister of Interior, informed those in attendance of the cancellation of the event.

“His Majesty called the Interior Minister and the Minister of Industry and Commerce a few moments ago. The sovereign expressed his discontent with the project that was submitted to him for the rehabilitation of street vendors. He said the project is below expectations and gave his high instructions to revise it so it complies with his instructions and lives up to the required level," he said.
