Rabat - Moroccan Minister of Higher Education Lahcen Daoudi said that Egypt under the regime of President Abdel Fattah Al Sisi "is better than before".
According to Egyptian local media reports cited by news website Yabiladi, Lahcen Daoudi, also a member of the ruling Islamist Party of Justice and Development (PJD), made the comments on Tuesday April 1st at Cairo University on the occasion of his participation in a Moroccan-Egyptian workshop on renewable energy.
Daoudi, who also "welcomed the excellent level of cooperation between the two countries" chaired with his Egyptian counterpart, Cherif Hammad, the sixth session of the joint Commission in technical scientific research. The Moroccan Minister had also held talks with the Egyptian Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab.
On Sunday, March 30, Abdelilah Benkirane, the chief of the Moroccan government and the secretary general of the PJD, met Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al Sisi on the sidelines of the Arab League Summit in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt.
For the Party of Justice and Development, however, Al Sisi is a coup leader who, as chief of the Egyptian Armed Forces, ousted Egypt's legitimate President Mohammed Morsi (the Muslim Brotherhood) after an uprising against him in the summer of 2013.
During the same period, Abdelilah Benkirane's wife was leading a march denouncing the impeachment of former President Mohammed Morsi by Abdel Fattah Al Sisi.
In 2014, Mohammed Yatim, a member of the PJD's executive committee took part in a meeting of the Friends of the Muslim Brotherhood in the Tunisian capital. He warned the international community against the recognition of the election of Al Sissi as the President of Egypt.
