Many Egyptian channels have recently boycotted Turkish TV products as a repulsive reaction against Turkish Prime Minister, Tayyip Erdogan's position towards the ouster of president Morsi, according to Al Arabiya.net.
Erdogan has shown his clear disapproval of the toppling of the Egyptian president since the initial ousting. He deemed the toppling an "untenable military coup."
The art community in Egypt apparently could not stand the Turkish Prime Minister's position and decided to react by urging Egyptian TV to quit broadcasting Turkish TV programs and discussing Turkish matters.
Egyptian Al-Hayat TV reportedly notified its audience that it would stop airing any Turkish TV product because of Erdogan's stance.
Egyptian channels are allegedly aware of the financial losses that such reaction would engender, especially because Turkish drama proves to attract considerable advertising rates. Yet, many Egyptian channels insisted on reacting to Erdogan's position despite potential losses.
The Turkish Prime Minister's controversial stance on the Egyptian situation has generated repulsive reactions from Egypt, especially when he recently held Israel accountable for the "military coup" that ended Morsi's regime.
Erdogan also condemned what he saw as "the passivity" of the U.N. after the toppling of president Morsi.
