Rabat - Saudi Arabia has reportedly given the family of Moroccan pilot Yassine Bahti 1.1 million Saudi Riyals (MAD 2.8 million) as financial compensation following the death of their son in Yemen, according to news website Hespress.
The money will be officially handed over to the Bahti family on Friday, May 29th in Casablanca by the Military attaché to the diplomatic mission of Saudi Arabia in Morocco, the same source added.
26-year-old Lieutenant Yassine Bahti died after his F-16 warplane crashed in Yemen while on a mission for the Saudi-led coalition against Iran-backed Houthi rebels.
This comes after Saudi Defense Minister and Deputy Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman said that the Moroccan martyr would be treated as a Saudi martyr, both financially and morally.
