Taroudant - A young Moroccan girl read a touching poem she wrote about peace in the world before Ban Ki-moon, the Secretary-General of the United Nations.

Douaa Abou Kabouss, a nine-year-old little Belgian girl of Moroccan origin, seized the opportunity of meeting with Secretary General of the UN to read a poem about peace and Islam, as she “learned about it from her parents”.

Upon his arrival, Ban Ki Mon greeted the little girl in Arabic and Doua replied Alaikom Assalm, with a jubilant smile.

The girl said that terrorism, radicalism and death, which make headlines on the news, “makes me very sad,” contrary to “what they teach me, my mom and dad.”

Being proud of her religion- Islam-, the girl added that “I love my belief, it showed me not to be a thief”
The little poet concluded her poem by a moving stanza, calling all people of the world to be one team.

I have a dream,

To see the whole world as one team.

If you can accept us as being the same,

Then together we can play a game.

The secretary general, who was listening attentively, hugged her when she finished reading the poem, saying he “is very moved and touched by the poem.”
