Rabat - Morocco is the sixth largest importer of French arms in the world during the period 2010-2014, according to a defence ministry report published Tuesday.
Morocco bought 723 million euros worth of weapons from France during the period 2010-2014, mainly through "large" contracts defined as more than 200 million euros.
The top French client was Saudi Arabia, which bought 12 billion euros worth of French-manufactured arms over the same period. It was followed by India, Brazil, United Arab Emirates, United States, Morocco, United Kingdom, Malaysia, Singapore and Russia.
According to the report, France sold 8.2 billion euros of weapons last year, an 18 per cent increase. It is the country's best export performance for 15 years.
The figures put France in fourth place in terms of global arms exports, behind the United States, Russia and China.
France's main markets over the period 2010 to 2014 were the Middle East (38 per cent), Asia (30 per cent), Europe (13 per cent), the Americas (11 per cent) and Africa (4 per cent).
