Rabat - Only a week after the beginning of the month of Ramadan, the British organization Friends of Al-Aqsa launched a campaign calling for the boycott of the Israeli dates grown in occupied Palestine, lands colonized by Jewish settlers supported by the Israeli army.
The association warns that Israeli dates can be found in abundance in the market stalls and shops, and that Muslims should be careful not to break their fast with dates from “the occupied territory.”
During the holy month of Ramadan, the demand for all kinds of dates increases significantly, as Muslims are advised to break their fast with dates.
Using the hashtag #CheckTheLabel, the campaigners called on Muslims to avoid buying Israeli dates that are often commercialized under the label “West Bank,” “Jordan Valley,” “Red Sea,” or other places to avoid being recognized and boycotted.
The campaigners said that Israeli dates are on all the stalls in the world competing with, for example, dates from Morocco.
They added that, “Thanks to an aggressive commercial policy with lower prices, Israeli companies have a high penetration rate in Muslim countries and in the different markets of Muslim consumers in the rest of the world.”

In a promotional video posted on YouTube, the organizers explained why Muslims and other people should boycott the Israeli dates.
"If you buy these dates, you are supporting Israel's theft on Palestine land and it’s oppressive occupation," the campaigners said.
