Rabat - A recent document leaked by Wikileaks claims that Saudi Arabia was willing to pay $10 billion for the release of the ousted Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak.
WikiLeaks has so far published roughly 60,000 documents, but the ‘Top Secret’ memo claims that the Gulf countries were ready to pay $10 billion in order to secure the freedom of the toppled president Hosni Mubarak.
The "top secret" memo added that an anonymous Egyptian official, said that the Muslim Brotherhood would accept the offer "since the Egyptian people will not benefit from his imprisonment."
Khairat el-Shater, a senior Brotherhood leader, had said in 2012 that Saudi Arabia offered to pay the Egyptian government “billions of dollars in return for Mubarak's freedom” - something Saudi officials firmly denied at the time, according to the same source.
WikiLeaks, an international non-profit journalistic organization, claimed that the publication includes more than half a million secret communications and top secret reports from the Saudi Foreign Ministry, Ministry of Interior and its General Intelligence Services.
