Fez - Moroccan Minister, Rachid Belmokhtar’s hearing at the house of representatives did not bring any new information on the results regarding the baccalaureate exam leaks.
Morocco’s parliamentary Committee of Education, Culture, and Communication summoned yesterday Minister of Education and Vocational Training Rachid Belmokhtar for questioning about the recent math baccalaureate exam leaks. However, Belmokhtar did not reveal any new information.
Belmokhtar kept silent for the entire four-hour session, and only spoke up to reveal that the investigation to find those responsible for leaks is still ongoing.
Mohammed Sassi, Director of the National Centre for Assessment and Examinations, also spoke at the hearing, providing no information about the leaks but presenting statistics about the number of candidates (500,000), exam centers (40,000), cases of cheating (3066), number of correctors (40000), and copies (3.5 million)
The Math exam leaks occurred on June 10, several hours before the exam was scheduled to take place. Tests were posted to social media, creating turbulence in many exam centers around Morocco.
The Ministry of Education reacted quickly. It cancelled the exam and set a new date for Friday, June 12, from 8 am to 11 am, bringing relief to many candidates.
Teachers and families eagerly await the results of the investigations and punishment for those who were involved.
