Heatwave across Morocco Friday Sunday, National Weather Service

Rabat- The National Directorate of Weather Service announced that several regions of Morocco will experience a heat wave this weekend.

As a result of the “Shergui,” the very hot wind coming from the east, the next few days of this holy month of Ramadan are expected to be hotter in most regions of the kingdom.

The temperature will range between 31 and 36 degrees Celsius in Casablanca, Rabat, Tangier, and Agadir, while in Marrakech, Fez, and Meknes the temperature is expected to rise to 43 degrees Celsius.

As Moroccans are fasting, it is advisable to stay out of the scorching sun in order to avoid dehydration and other serious health complications.

To be able to stand about 16 hours fasting, health experts advise observers of the holy month to avoid salty meals, drink more fluids, and eat fruits that contain a lot of water and vitamins like cucumber, melon, and watermelon at night and during the “Sohour”, a meal eaten before dawn.
