Rabat - The Wilaya of Casablanca launched this week, in collaboration with the Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Industry, Trade, Investment and Digital Economy, and Barid Al Maghrib, a service to issue marital status certificates online as part of an overall strategy to improve services and without the need of citizens to be present at communes for the certificates.
The new service, called "Watiqa" will help citizens save time and effort, and enable them to obtain marital status certificates from electronic counters and pay the fees online.
According to Maghreb Arab Press (MAP), payments can be made using a Morocco registered bank card or an international bank card and soon via Short Message Service SMS.
Applicants will be able to receive their requested marital status documents via registered mail in Morocco and abroad without the hassle of visiting the service centers.
The project is expected to significantly reduce the burden on citizens and enable to access services and request documents anywhere and anytime.
According to the governor of Casablanca Khalid Safir, the project is part of an overall strategy to improve services related to civil status, adding that the project will expand its services to the documents that are most requested by citizens.
