Sidi Ifni, Morocco- According to the Microsoft corporation, Morocco is exposed to criminal security software nearly 3.5 times more than the global average.
In an interview with the Moroccan newspaper "L'Economiste", Morocco-based director of Microsoft Samir Benmakhlouf attributed this threatening danger to the software programs used illegally and falsely. Benkhalouf explained that the fake software programs which are easily attacked by viruses, are capable of hacking passwords and credit cards. Scamming is, among other things, a common problem caused by such software.
"It is saddening to find Moroccans and internet addicts exposing themselves to such threats and dangers, particularly if they are unaware of the problems they are facing," Benkhalouf said.
"Working and ordering things online is not always safe and guaranteed, " Benkhalouf added.
Despite the fact that the statistics released by the Microsoft corporation show that Morocco, compared with other countries, lags behind in terms of software safety, some of the technology and software geniuses, including hackers, are in fact Moroccan.
