Rabat - Morocco’s former Minister of Communications Mohamed Larbi Messari passed away on Saturday July 25th at the age of 79.
Mohamed Larbi Messari was one of the most famous leaders of the Istiqlal Party. He was appointed Minister of Communications in 1998. He was also Morocco’s Ambassador to Brazil.
In addition to his political career, Larbi Messari was also a historian and a diplomat. He became anchor for the National Radio Station between 1964 and 1985, before joining the Daily Al Alam newspaper where he was appointed Editor-in-Chief.
Larbi Messari also authored several books in Arabic, Spanish and Portuguese, including a book about late King Mohammed V, and a book about Moroccan-Spanish ties.
Mohamed Larbi Messari was born in 1936 in Tetouan, Northern Morocco.
