Rabat - United States Secretary of State John Kerry addressed King Mohammed VI and the Moroccan people today, Feast of the Throne, wishing the country a “joyful celebration,” and expressing gratitude for a strong and “constructive” relationship between the two countries.
In John Kerry’s statement, he offers his “best wishes to King Mohammed VI and the Moroccan people,” as Moroccans celebrate the Feast of the Throne on July 30, speaking on behalf of President Barack Obama and the people of the United States.
Kerry further applauds the various cultural and educational exchanges existing between the US and Morocco, and the mutual commitment towards a more prosperous economy.
“Ours is a strategic partnership, and we work together daily to advance our common priorities of a secure, stable, and prosperous North Africa and Middle East. We share a strong commitment to improving economic opportunity and prosperity for all Moroccans through efforts to develop its entrepreneurial ecosystem and educational resources.”
Morocco has served as an indispensable ally to the United States, and in Kerry’s statement, he acknowledges the dedicated and dependable military cooperation that is essential to maintaining peace in the Maghreb and the rest of the world.
“More broadly, we are pleased with our expanding collaboration with Morocco as we seek to address global and regional security challenges and applaud Moroccan leadership on efforts to counter violent extremism.”
John Kerry visited Morocco back in April 2014 to talk with top Moroccan officials, mostly regarding security and commercial cooperation.
Kerry finishes his statement recognizing the friendship between the two countries. “We look forward to deepening our strong relationship that has endured for over two centuries,” Kerry says.
