Moroccan olives not banned in US

Rabat - In response to recent reports, the Ministry of Agriculture stated that the FDA in the US has not banned olives exported from Morocco, as previous reports such as those from Mahgreb confidentiel have otherwise claimed.

To date, according to the statement, Moroccan olives continue to export to the US market and suffer no such blockages or restraints.  All of these exports conform to US legislation and standards, according to the Ministry of Agriculture.

The instance of Moroccan olives being banned by the FDA cited in news reports refers to an isolated incident where certain shipments failed to meet specific US standards due to the detection of an insecticide unauthorized by US law. These specific shipments have not gained authorization to enter the market.

Other companies active in the olive market, notably in the Fes-Saiss area, continue to meet their commercial orders of olives and continue to export to the US without any issues.
