Rabat- Three Moroccans have won the ETNOMED prizes for short movie (Cherif Abderrahman Jah), screenplay (Tarik Boukler) and photography (Daoue l'Makan Mezghan).
The winner of the best short movie is president of the Madrid-based foundation for Islamic culture. The winning production, "Las voces del agua " (voices of water) is a compilation of testimonies by farmers from Moorish Spanish regions who still practice sustainable tradition irrigation.
Tarik Boukler won a "special mention" distinction for his short movie "Princess Lalla Zahra" which tells the story of a Muslim Spanish woman who founded the Chefchaouen foundation, while Daoue l' Makan Mezghan was rewarded in the photography category for her photography "Talent of mountain women".
ETNOMED contest is part of the Mediterranean ethnography, identity and sustainable development project that seeks to promote the cultural legacy shared between the Spanish region of Granada and Morocco's northern regions.
The activity is co-financed by the European Fund for regional development and the European Union.
