US-based Moroccan singer featured on Operah’s show

Rabat- Nidal Ibourk, a US-based Moroccan citizen who recently emerged as a star in the Arab World by participating in one of the biggest musical shows “The Voice,” has had a rare opportunity to meet and chat with American media icon Oprah Winfrey.

It all started when Oprah, producer and host of her own “The Oprah Winfrey Show,” read an article written by Ibourk about the customs and traditions of marriage in the Arab world. This happened to be the topic of one of her new program episodes. According to NBC, Oprah then called on Ibourk to participate in the program and give her opinion about the subject.

Meeting Oprah Winfrey was a dream that came true. Since I studied communication in my undergrad I always admired Oprah's style of communicating with her audience. She is very good at what she does. Luckily I got the chance to sit in her show and see her after the producer of the show saw an article that I wrote about how we celebrate marriage, according to Islamic and Moroccan norms, ”Nidal told MWN.

“I never thought that an article will lead to me meeting Oprah, she was so great to everyone in the studio. She made feel like as if I know her in person and it is an opportunity that I will never forget in my life,” she added.

Ibourk is a versatile and academically gifted Moroccan who started her singing career in 2008. Since then, she has performed in a number of events in Morocco, Europe and the US, before participating in this year’s edition of NBC’s “The Voice.”
