Rabat - AS Roma is eyeing Olympiakos defender Kostas Manolas as a potential replacement for Moroccan international Mehdi Benatia who is set to leave the Stadio Olimpico side for Bavarian giants of Bayern Munich before the end of the summer transfer window.
Media reports said that Benatia's agent, Moussa Sissoko, went to Munich to negotiate his client's personal terms with Bayern after the Moroccan player has been reported to reject a contract extension with Roma.
Several European teams expressed interest in having Benatia including Premiere League heavyweights Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea.
Bayern are attempting to clinch the Benatia deal for 30 million euros, which is not enough for the Giallorossi who demand 35 million to release their rock strong defender.
Other reports suggest that Mehdi Benatia will have a medical with Bayern on Wednesday, which rules out scenarios that he might join Monaco or some English team.
