Washington- Dave Majumdar, a freelance defense-aerospace reporter who writes for the National Interest believes that the US should provide Morocco with drones.

He says that Morocco’s government is friendly to the United States and its interests, and believes that Morocco’s proximity to Mali, Algeria, and the chaos in Libya provide sufficient reason to arm it with the latest drone technology.

The author goes on to say that “Morocco’s military is well funded, well equipped and well trained by the standards of the region.” He also states that the United States has already equipped Morocco’s arm forces with a fleet of advanced Lockheed Martin F-16s and other U.S. equipment.

The author points out that the US has already granted General Atomics an export license to sell the unarmed Predator XP drone to the North African country, but he’s not sure if the deal went through.

He ultimately suggested that the U.S should consider selling armed MQ-9 Reapers to Morocco.

The question is even if the U.S approves the sale of these unmanned machines, who is going to pick up the tab?
