Rabat - Morocco is among the countries with the smallest amount of disposable income per month, says a new study by MoveHub.com using data from 2014. In this context personal disposable income refers to the income per person after all taxes have been paid.
The kingdom is ranked among countries with the smallest amount of disposable income, between $700 and $400 a month. However, Morocco comes ahead of neighboring Algeria, Tunisia and Egypt, which are all shown in red, meaning their citizens get $400 or less.
Qatar leads the Arab world with an average disposable income of $3500, followed by the United Arab Emirates with a monthly income of $3000 and Saudi Arabia, Oman and Kuwait with a disposable income ranging between $1500 and $2500.
The wealthiest country by this measure is Switzerland. The European country leads the world by a huge margin, with an average disposable income of $6300, which is 2 to 3 times that of its neighbors, Germany $2850, France $2670, and Italy $2120.
In the United States, the average disposable monthly income stands at $3,258 per person, which is a sixth higher than Canada's average.
However, the study pointed out that Personal Disposable Income can vary between states, provinces or territories. For example in Washington D.C. the Personal Disposable Income is $5450 a month, about twice as high as in Mississippi ($2650).
MoveHub.com said that data for the study was collected by Numbeo.com and was adapted by NationMaster using a series of surveys carried out in 2010-2014 throughout each of the mapped countries. Data for North America was collected by New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development and Statistics Quebec.
