Rabat - King Mohammed VI sent a condolence message to the families of the dead and injured of the tragic accident that took place on Friday near the city of Tantan, southern Morocco, and decided to pay for the burial of the dead and the medical expenses of those injured, according to statement issued by the Royal Household.
In the message, the Sovereign said he “was deeply saddened and moved” to learn about the tragic accident.
The King expressed heartfelt condolences and sympathy following the accident that left many young Moroccans dead, said the statement.
The communique of the Royal House said that the King "to personally pay for the transfer of the bodies, burial and funerals of the victims as well as for the medical expenses of those injured."
The King also issued his instructions to the authorities, to provide all the necessary support and assistance to the families of the victims.
At least thirty-one people, mostly teens, were killed and nine others were injured in the accident that occurred at 07:00 am when a bus collided head-on with a semi-trailer in the commune of Chbika in the province of Tan-Tan.
