Rabat - King Mohammed VI is reported to have flown Monday morning to the United Arab Emirates for a private visit, Hespress reported.

The new visit comes only five months after the private visit the Moroccan monarch paid to the UAE in December. On the occasion, he had attended the parade held by the Gulf state on its 43rd national day.

The monarch is expected to meet Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the United Arab Emirates Minister of Foreign Affairs and other high-ranking Emirati officials.

Last month, Sheikh Mohammed Ben Zayed Al-Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and deputy supreme commander of the UAE Armed Forces, arrived in Morocco for an official visit at the invitation of King Mohammed VI. During the visit, the two leaders chaired the signing ceremony of several bilateral cooperation agreements in various fields.

Morocco holds a strong relationship with the UAE. In December 2014, Morocco’s House of Representatives approved a law supporting military cooperation between Morocco and the United Arab Emirates. The law allows the Moroccan government to provide military, security, and logistical support to the United Arab Emirates to help them fight terrorism.

Last October, Morocco had also pledged its “active support” to the UAE’s fight against terrorism and the preservation of regional and international peace and stability.
