Rabat - Chief of government Abdelilah Benkirane recently expressed his discontent with the romance between Habib Choubani, Minister Delegate in charge of Relations between Parliament and Civil Society and Soumia Benkhaldoun, Minister Delegate to the Minister of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Executive training.
According to the daily newspaper Akhbar Al Yaoum, Abdelilah Benkirane said in a meeting of his party's executive committee on Monday that the relationship between the two PJD ministers has tarnished the image of the Islamist party.
While he acknowledged that he has no right in intervening in the personal lives of others, Abdelilah Benkirane did not hide his displeasure with the ministerial couple, saying that everyone must be responsible for the consequences of their decisions.
Benkirane said the ministers' alleged engagement and the controversy that surrounded it have only caused damage to the party's political image. Akhbar Al Yaoum added the PJD is moving towards the establishment of a committee whose mission will be to minimize the impact of the issue on the party's image.
