Rabat - Following the cancellation of his show scheduled for April 29th in Casablanca, controversial French Comedian Dieudonne M'bala M'bala called on King Mohammed VI to allow him to perform in Morocco.
"Majesty, I want to have access to theaters in your kingdom to come and make your people laugh, with all due respect," Dieudonne said in a video.
In the video, Dieudonne said the cancellation of his Casablanca show was the result of outside pressure by what he described as community associations.
In fact, the President of the National Bureau of Vigilance Against Anti-Semitism (BNVCA), Sammy Ghozlan, claimed to have sent a letter to the Moroccan ambassador to France asking the Moroccan authorities to prevent Dieudonné from performing in Casablanca, according to Telquel.
“As soon as I learned that Dieudonné was going to perform in Casablanca, I immediately contacted Morocco’s ambassador in Paris,” said Ghozlan, adding that he is satisfied with the decision made by the Moroccan authorities to cancel the show.
Dieudonné's act "La Bête immonde" (The Filthy Beast), originally scheduled for April 29th in Casablanca, had been cancelled after representatives from the Mohammed V complex, the event's planned venue, said the hall was no longer available due to "technical reasons".
The show reportedly contains strong language directed against Jews. It portrays the life of Ilan Halimi, a young Parisian Jewish phone salesman who was tortured and murdered in 2006 by a gang of kidnappers because he was Jewish.
