Rabat - Head of government Abdelilah Benkirane said he is ready to step down once he loses the trust and confidence of King Mohammed VI and the Moroccan people.
Benkirane reacted to what happened on April 28th at the House of Representatives when an oral session was cut short after heated exchanges with opposition members.
He expressed deep disappointment regarding the behavior of opposition members who protested loudly leading the chair to adjourn the session.
According to daily newspaper Akhbar Al Yaoum, Benkirane said he was deeply affected by claims that he has alleged links with ISIS, Al Nusra Front and the Israeli Mossad.
He also complained about the lack of respect from opposition groups during a meeting of the General Secretariat of the Justice and Development Party (PJD).
Benkirane said he is not interested in high positions of responsibility, adding that he is ready to quit his post if he feels he no longer has the support of the Moroccan people.
On Tuesday April 28th, Benkirane called on opposition groups to tackle the issues that need reform rather than "resorting to obscenities and use a displaced language."
The response angered opposition groups who demanded the government chief to withdraw his remarks.
