Rabat - Secretary General of the Party of Justice and Development (PJD), Abdelilah Benkirane, has promised never to leave the country in the hands of "mercenaries".
Addressing a gathering during the Labour Day celebrations on Friday, chief of government Abdelilah Benkirane launched a blistering attack on political opponents, accusing them of plotting to enfeeble his government.
Benkirane harshly assailed his opponents, including the Secretary General of the Istiqlal Party Hamid Chabat and USFP leader Driss Lachgar.
Benkirane accused Hamid Chabat of being a "liar" and of "blackmailing drug dealers", and Driss Lachgar of becoming a "symbol of tyranny".
He said his government is fighting against what he described as a "group of mercenaries who seek to take control over everything."
Benkirane added that if he steps down, he will leave the door wide open for a gang with links to fuel smugglers and land stealers to take over the country.
