Rabat - Raja Casablanca has called on the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to launch an investigation in the wake of the events that marked the end of the African Champions League second leg match between the Moroccan team and the Algerian side of Wifak Sétif on Friday at the Stade 8 Mai 1945 in the city of Sétif.

In a correspondence sent to the governing body of African football, the Casablanca-based team demanded for sanctions to be imposed on the Algerian side following the attack by the Algerian riot police, as well as by the President of Wifak Sétif on the components of Raja Casablanca.

According to daily newspaper Al Ahdath Al Maghribiya, the Moroccan team's correspondence to the CAF was supported by evidence, including the intervention of the Algerian riot police against Raja supporters, players and officials, as well as the poor condition of the game's field and the unjustified departure of the match's supervisor who left before the final whistle.

In an interview with local Sports radio channel Radio Mars following the game, Raja Casablanca President Mohammed Boudrika said that 10 Raja players were injured after being beaten up by the Algerian riot police.

Like the first leg of the competition, the second leg ended in a 2-2 draw. However, the Algerian side progressed to the next round of the African competition following a 4-1 penalty shootout win.
