Rabat - Morocco moved down three places to the 89th position in the Fragile States index released by the Fund For Peace (FFP). With a score of 74.6, the kingdom remains in the 'warning' category.
Morocco is ranked in the 'Marginal Improvement' category, while Algeria and Tunisia are ranked in the 'Marginal worsening' and 'significant worsening' categories, respectively.
The Washington-based nonprofit FFP analyzed 12 indicators related to countries' social, economic and political climate in determining fragility, in addition to 100 sub-indicators.
The Fragile States Index is an annual ranking of 178 nations based on their levels of stability and the pressures they face. The 2015 Fragile States Index, the 11th edition of the annual Index, comprises data collected between January 1, 2014 and December 31, 2014.
Finland was ranked most stable country in the world followed by Sweden, Norway and Denmark.
South Sudan has topped the Fragile States Index for the year in succession, as the country continues to be wracked by internal conflict, fractious politics and poverty.
Syria saw a decline from 164th on the 2014 Index to 170th in 2015, with an 8-point increase in its total score as it saw worsening conditions in virtually all of its indicators.
