Rabat - Moroccan police at the Marrakech Menara International Airport arrested three Afghan nationals in possession of "letters with jihadist content," announced Wednesday the Ministry of Interior.
The arrest of the three Afghans has uncovered an "international migration network" designed to feed the Jihadist, the source said.
The three Afghans, one of whom is of Pakistani origin, were arrested as they attempted to leave Morocco to Denmark using falsified Pakistani passports, the statement said.
The three men arrested were put under the supervision of the Prosecutor General of Marrakech. The respondents will be transferred to Rabat for further investigation.
In an interview with French speaking weekly magazine Jeune Afrique last June, Moroccan Minister of Interior, Mohammed Hassad, said that Morocco had arrested 27 terrorist cells between 2013 and 2015.
The Moroccan official added that eight jihadist cells had been dismantled between January and May this year, while 14 cells had been dismantled last year.
