Rabat - A Saudi man was sentenced to 13 years in prisonand 2,000 lashes of the whip for raping his daughter for nearly five years,from ages 15 to 20.
After being rescued by doctors when she tried to commit suicide, the daughter told her tragic story to the police.
According to the Arabic language daily Alwatan, "the girl decided to take pills and commit suicide...after she was saved by doctors, she told police that her father raped her for five years.”
The girl told the court in the Western Red Sea port of Jeddah that she had been raped by her father every time her mother was away for nearly five years, and that he threatened to kill her if she reported him to any member of the family.
When the victim refused to respond to her father’s barbaric sexual desires, he assaulted her and beat her brutally.
Despite the heinous crime, the court dismissed the public prosecutor’s demands for the death sentence.
