Rabat - Belgian-Moroccan young mountaineers Yanis and Adam Oulad, have become the first children to climb Jebel Toubkal, the highest mountain in Morocco and North Africa.

Accompanied by their father Zakaria Oulad, the two youngsters managed to successfully reach the top of the mountain, on July 31, 2015.

According to the local guides in Toubkal Mountain, they had never seen adventurous children of that age reach the summit.

Yanis and Adam Oulad, two brothers aged six and nine respectively, along with their father, challenged the cold weather, lack of oxygen, slept in tents, and climbed their way to the peak of the mountain.

“The aspiring mountaineers have proven their courage and mental strength,” local guides said, adding that “they arrived at the summit in tears when received by applause and praise from other hikers.”
