UN ‘Deeply Concerned’ over Tindouf Youth Exposure to Recruitment by Terrorist Groups

Rabat - A high-ranking UN official on Thursday expressed his "deep concern" over the growing frustration among the youth living in Tindouf camps, exposed to recruitment by terrorist groups in the region.

This concern was expressed by Zeid Ra'ad Al Hussein, United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, during discussion at the Human Rights Council's session in Geneva.

Al Hussein also responded to the allegations made by Algeria and pro-Polisario NGO over the human rights situation in the Kingdom.

He stressed the importance of UN Security Council resolutions as a framework to deal with the situation in the Moroccan Sahara in order to reach a political settlement to this regional dispute.

In a report, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights raised the situation of human rights in conflict zones, especially Yemen, Iraq and Libya, and expressed his concern over "the immense suffering of the population of Syria."
