New York- Brazil’s Star Ronladinho did not conceal his disappointment after the elimination of his team by Morocco’s Raja of Casablanca on Wednesday night in Agadir.
The Moroccan team won the match 3-1 in a heroic performance that dazzled the entire world.
In a statement to the press following the game, Ronaldinho said that his team’s defeat was “bitter” one.
“Expectations were high and we had a very good season, but our defeat was a bitter one,” the former world player of 2004 and 2005 told the press.
“We have now to accept the reality,” he added.
He went to say that the match was even for both teams, adding that Raja of Casablanca’s players took advantage of the occasions they created.
“Both teams created occasions of goals, but they knewhow to translate their occasions, and the public was on their side,” he noted.
“We have to accept the defeat with cool heads,” he added.
The Moroccan team achieved a historic feat on Wednesday night when it got the upper hand over Atletico Mineiro, the current champion of Latin America’s Copa de Libertadores.
Raja of Casablanca will meet Bayern Munich on Saturday in the final of the FIFA Club World Cup, which is taking place in Morocco from 11 to 21 December. It is the first time that the tournament is held in African after it was held in Brazil, Japan and the United Arab Emirates in previous years.
It is also the first time that a team from an Arab country reaches the final of the tournament, and the second time that an African team reaches this stage after Mazembe (Democratic Republic of the Congo) reached the final in 2010.
