Taroudant- Morocco Microsoft rings alarm bell on a fake email sent to its users announcing that the recipients won a lottery allegedly organized by Microsoft.

On their official webpage, Morocco Microsoft alerts its users on the risks of a scam e-mail sent to multiple recipients including a "Certificate of recognition of winning" in a lottery allegedly organized by Microsoft.

“Microsoft has never organized a lottery, and the information contained in this email is false,” said the same source.

The company disclaims any responsibility for such email and calls on anyone who received it to delete it.

People who suspect that they have responded to a phishing scam with personal or financial information should change their password, contact their banks and check their bank statements monthly for unexplained charges or inquiries that they did not initiate.

The fishing emails often use the names of well-known companies to convince the recipients to respond to their messages.

Fraudulent or hoax emails and links are usually recognizable, and Microsoft has published a list of tips to help the users avoid scams that use their name fraudulently.
